Developers set to buy Belleview Biltmore Resort

The developers who tried to raze the historic hotel and replace it with condominiums last year have the property under contract again.

This is an historic building and should not be torn down to build more homes and condos. This is a part of Clearwater History...

I agree. It would be great if it could be preserved and developed into a thriving hotel likes its cousin, the Hotel Del Coronado
in San Diego.

The city should look to Charleston, SC as an example. They preserve their historical homes, hotels, buildings and the crowds FLOCK to see them. We visited the beautiful, historically relevant Belleview Biltmore hotel last spring and were hoping to return. Shame on the developers if they make the property into condos.

Tearing down this historic hotel would be nothing less than a crime! Are we so money-hungry in this area that we have to destroy everything old just to make some developers richer than they already are? What gives these men the right to decide that the City of Clearwater doesn't need this exceptional piece of history. And shame on the City Fathers who would even consider issuing a permit! Spend the money to renovate the building so that future generations can enjoy it instead of building yet more expensive condos that only a select few can afford. Try thinking with your hearts instead of your pocketbooks for a change - the world would be a better place!
